Since 1999 the San Juan Island Service Scholarship organization has awarded $360,000 in scholarships to San Juan Island high school graduates.

This is a unique higher education scholarship program dedicated to only San Juan Island students: rather than focusing on grades, this $1,500 scholarship is awarded after students log a minimum of 80 hours of qualifying volunteer work for various SJI community organizations. To encourage variety in volunteerism, a minimum of three different organizations (not including SJI Service Scholarship) is also required. This is a fantastic way to develop a student’s personal experience to be highlighted on college applications and future career resumes!

SJI Service Scholarship is a registered 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization. Scholarships funds are solely dependent on the generosity of our amazing island community. We host three fundraisers throughout the year: a letter writing campaign during the holiday season, a seasonal raffle, San Juan County Fair parking. Donations are also accepted via USPS at PO Box 3366 Friday Harbor, WA 98250.
